Oak Hills High School is dedicated to providing a variety of educational opportunities that are rigorous and promote secondary education. The College Credit Plus (CCP) Program affiliated with Cincinnati State College is an opportunity for Oak Hills students to achieve both high school and college credit for English.
Students who score a 3, 4, or 5 on either the AP English Language or the AP English Literature Exam can receive credit for both high school and college (CCP). Those students can then take Honors Comp 2: Technical Communication for both high school and college (CCP). (Note: A score of 3, 4, or 5 on either the AP English Language or AP English Literature Exam is a PREREQUISITE for Honors Comp 2: Technical Communication.) This credit is transferable to most colleges or universities (check Transferology to see how your credit transfers).
Eng Comp 2: Technical Communication is one semester long and will count toward three total hours of college-level English (English 104).
In order to be considered for enrollment in the course, each student must commit to and meet the following expectations:
Academics
1. Complete all preliminary registration including faculty recommendation and assessment testing.
2. Maintain at least a 2.0 GPA in the course.
3. Participate fully in classroom activities.
4. Complete all homework and classwork assignments (approximately two hours nightly).
5. Participate in school-assigned Help Sessions to remediate academic deficiencies.
6. Commit to successful completion of all prescribed coursework.
Attendance
1. Attendance in CCP courses is MANDATORY.
2. If absences or tardiness occur, the student must bring a note to school, signed by parent or guardian, with a valid
reason for the absence. An absence is an absence, whether excused or not.
3. Excessive absences may result in failure and removal from the CCP course.
Parental Support
Active parental involvement is critical to a student’s success in the learning process and the CCP experience. In order for students to experience success in the program, each parent must commit to meet the following expectations:
1. Ensure student compliance with all expectations in this contract.
2. Contact the school office prior to any student absence; make sure that absences are limited to unavoidable situations.
3. Establish a daily study time, and check Blackboard/Weebly for daily homework assignments and other resources.
4. Monitor homework to ensure timely completion and quality work.
5. Monitor student academic progress with regular review of grades on Progress Book.
6. Participate in all scheduled conferences with school personnel.
7. Communicate with the instructor as necessary.
Please remember that the grade you achieve in this class is a permanent part of your college transcript; likewise, the “W” earned if you withdraw past the deadline will also remain. It is imperative that you take the class seriously.
